Our Mission
is to cultivate a resilient and inclusive Pacific Northwest community.
Our Vision
Positive, place based action for an inclusive and unified Pacific Northwest with a recognizable culture of bioregional sustainability.
Our Mechanism
We are a charitable incubator for grassroots, community centered projects. We provide tools, guidance and services so that all Cascadians can develop and deliver solutions that meet the needs of their communities at all scales.
CascadiaNow! Guiding Values
CN! values and promotes the following:
● A shared sense of connectedness among the many diverse inhabitants of Cascadia.
● A socially beneficial Cascadian economy that favors local goods and services.
● Accessible, community-based approaches to learning and skills sharing.
● An ethic of harmonious living among all Cascadia's humans, flora, and fauna.
Organizational Past, Present, and Future
CascadiaNow! was formed as a 501(c)3 organization creating a central hub of services and support that many groups need, but very few have access to; and provide a transparent and accountable infrastructure that allows for democratic and horizontal self organization and can build in an exponential growth curve as the community grows.
Our work:
Educate and raise awareness of Cascadia & Bioregionalism, by supporting grassroots volunteers and building resources.
Support volunteers educating, building partnerships, and affecting change in their local communities.
Support Project Leaders who host programs and events that help improve the well being of the Cascadia bioregion and its inhabitants.
Provide a hub for communications and services for grassroots programs in Cascadia.
Partner with other organizations, causes ,and events in line with our mission and values.
CascadiaNow! was founded in 2015 as a nonprofit community organization to help raise awareness of Cascadia and bioregionalism and to build a positive social and place based action for the Pacific Northwest. We empower every person to get involved with the issues they care about! After many years of watching great ideas struggle not because they weren't great ideas, but because many people lacked the support they needed, CascadiaNow!’s founding directors and board members became a 501(c)3 non-profit to provide structure to support fellow Cascadians great ideas.
Today, CascadiaNow! is proudly one of the most successful fiscal sponsorship organizations in Washington State, and serves programming throughout the entire Cascadia bioregion. Aside from building an amazing network of regional organizers promoting Cascadia & bioregionalism, these volunteers shift our impacts locally - and acting small and locally is what bioregionalism is all about! Our team has grown from several volunteers to hundreds and we have adopted more than 50 programs that each help the Cascadia bioregion in their own special way. Take a look at our guiding values and governing documents here! We are so excited to support our volunteers cultivating the Pacific Northwest community we love NOW! We hope you join us!

Staff
Our staff is a part-time team of friendly and kind people with a full-time passion for non-profit organizations and Cascadia.
Bethany Clochard | (She/her)
Projects Director
bethany@cascadianow.org
Bethany brings over 30 years experience as a habitual volunteer and employee of nonprofits to her role as the “concierge” for CN!’s fiscally sponsored projects. Bethany’s skills can be summarized this way: build awareness, understanding, and relationships. Regular and ongoing communications ensure project leaders get answers to widely-varied questions. Bethany ensures project web pages and donation forms are created and updated, assists with project events, publicity and finances, and is the key staff person for CN!'s fiscal sponsor program. She also facilitates on-line programs and trainings that foster a sense of shared community among our project leaders; since they are geographically dispersed and seldom get to meet one another face-to-face, this is a key benefit to support them.
Bethany’s pride in Cascadia comes from having lived in every corner of the bioregion. It never made sense to her to honor being from only one town, state or country, so she’s delighted to be a Cascadian! In her spare time, Bethany is out exploring this beautiful bioregion, preferably via camping with her pets but also in her kayak or on her skis.
Kristin Pederson | (she/her)
Operations and Resources Director
kristin@cascadianow.org
Kristin grew up exploring the Cascadia bioregion and has developed a great appreciation for everything it has to offer, from the whales in the Salish Sea to the nudibranchs in the tide pools, and the orchards and vineyards east of the Cascades - she'll even admit to liking the rain!
After graduating from the University of Washington with a BS in Microbiology, she spent much of her professional life working on the water as a sailing instructor and captain, and on land as the Programs and Operations Manager at The Center for Wooden Boats on Lake Union. After nearly a decade teaching sailing, she has introduced many Seattleites, new and old, to the joys and unique perspective of experiencing the region from the water. While working at The Center for Wooden Boats, she helped ensure equitable access to the waterways for all residents and visitors to the area. Her non-profit experience also includes serving on the board of a local non-profit dedicated to bringing solar-powered energy to off-grid communities.
When she's not working, you can find Kristin trail running in the mountains, on the water sailing, or underwater diving with the largest octopus in the world - right here in Puget Sound!
