On April 22nd, 2015 CascadiaNow! joined over 20 other organizations dedicated to sustainability at Seattle Central Community College (SCCC) in celebration of Earth Day.
The inaugural Climate Action Festival featured speeches from Earth Day founder Denis Hayes, Duwamish Tribe Leader Cecile Hansen, Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, K.C. Golden of Climate Solutions and many more.
The Climate Action Festival was hosted by SCCC's Sustainability Council, a group of students dedicated to helping students identify ways to reduce their environmental footprints.
In just one short year, the council has conducted a waste audit of the entire campus and introduced a composting program to reduce the college's ecological footprint.
With a successful Climate Action Festival to add to their list of accomplishments, we're excited to see what SCCC's Sustainability Council plans next!
